A confidential source in August 2025 cited by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted a ‘sharp decline in conflict-related violence’ in White Nile state since May 2025.1068 UNHCR described the state as ‘relatively stable’ as of August 20251069, ‘generally calm’ as of January 20261070 and as remaining ‘generally stable’ as of March 2026, while also noting some spillover from hostilities in neighbouring Kordofan region, with increased drone activity and displacement movements into White Nile.1071 At the beginning of March 2026, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights expressed alarm at the uptick of RSF drone strikes in White Nile,1072 with multiple drone strikes between March and June 2026 on the state capital Kosti,1073 several on Rabak,1074 and one on Al-Jabalain.1075
