Between January and June 2025, OHCHR documented 224 civilian deaths in the context of the conflict in West Kordofan.980 Between 16 November 2024 and 15 November 2025, the organisation documented 1 253 civilian casualties in the whole Kordofan region.981 Between March 2025 and April 2026, AOAV recorded 475 casualties resulting from explosive weapons use in West Kordofan,982 with several months of no recorded casualties, several months of casualty figures ranging between 40 and 70 (June 2025 with 58,983 November 2025 with 44984 and February 2026 with 71 deaths and injuries985) and one notable peak in March 2026 (232 deaths and injuries).986 Among the most significant security incidents affecting civilians were drone or airstrikes,987 with the UN reporting that at least 152 civilians had been killed at the beginning of March 2026 alone in SAF drone strikes in the state.988 ACLED observed that the security incidents it recorded in West Kordofan (including Abyei) between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2026 caused an estimated 3 117 fatalities.989
