2.3. South Darfur

In the reference period covered by the previous EUAA COI Report Sudan – Security Situation (February 2025), the RSF captured South Darfur capital city, Nyala, in October 2023, resulting in the control over South Darfur state.631 Large-scale fighting in the state subsequently subsided, although air strikes and localised insecurity persisted.632
