2.7.3. Security incidents

Between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2026, ACLED recorded 910 security events in North Kordofan state. Of these, 266 were coded as battles, 480 as explosions/remote violence and 164 as violence against civilians. The highest incident rates were recorded in July 2026 (114 incidents), followed by September 2025 (80 incidents) and June 2026 (68 incidents). During the reference period, ACLED recorded security incidents in all eight districts853 of North Kordofan. The highest number was documented in Sheikan district (362 incidents) in which El Obeid is located, followed by Bara district (196 incidents). Of the 164 incidents coded as ‘violence against civilians’ with 850 recorded fatalities, 137 involved the RSF, and 12 involved Sudanese military forces.854
