Between January and June 2025, OHCHR did not document any civilian deaths in the context of the conflict in Gedaref state.1226 Between March 2025 and April 2026, AOAV recorded only two casualties resulting from explosive weapons use in Gedaref state,1227 namely in May 2025.1228 In August 2025, a worker at a livestock market as well as several herders were killed in incursions in Basunda district carried out by Ethiopian militia crossing the border.1229
