According to IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Data, as of 30 July 2026, Northern state was hosting 358 918 IDPs, 73 % of them displaced from Khartoum (263 512), followed by 50 715 IDPs displaced there from North Darfur. Of the total number of IDPs in Northern state, 96 109 IDPs were located in Al Dabbah district, followed by Merowe district with 67 083 IDPs and Dongola district with 64 441 IDPs. At the same time, an additional five displaced persons from Northern state were hosted in other states. As of 28 July 2026, IOM had not recorded any IDP returns in Northern state.1190 According to UNHCR, Northern state hosted over half a million IDPs as of November 2025 and was witnessing a growing influx of IDPs from Darfur.1191
