In the reference period covered by the previous EUAA COI Report Sudan – Security Situation (February 2025), the RSF made significant gains in Sennar state, capturing nearly the entire state by July 2024.1028 In September and October 2024, the SAF led a counter-offensive in the state, recapturing strategic areas,1029 until the state capital Sinja, the RSF’s last major stronghold in the state,1030 was captured by the SAF in late November 2024.1031
