During the reference period, territorial control maps depicted River Nile state as continuously under SAF control.1194 A map provided by the Africa Center for Strategic Studies as of the start of July 2026 showed the SAF in full control of the state with support from allied groups such as the Sudanese Popular Resistance Force/Mustanfareen and the Darfur Joint Forces.1195
