According to IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Data, as of 30 July 2026, South Darfur state was hosting 1 765 738 IDPs, most of them displaced from South Darfur itself (1 656 578). Of the total IDPs in South Darfur, 464 783 IDPs were located in Beliel district, followed by 335 158 IDPs in Nyala Shimal. At the same time, 328 510 displaced persons from South Darfur were hosted in other states. As of 28 July 2026, South Darfur recorded 102 911 returned IDPs, almost all of whom (100 667) were previously displaced within the state.685 Communal violence starting end of May 2026, resulted in displacement from Kubum,686 Mirkindi, and Damba toward Ad Al-Fursan.687
