In the reference period covered by the previous EUAA COI Report Sudan – Security Situation (February 2025), the RSF captured Jebel Awliya south of Khartoum in November 20231059 and from there seized parts of northern White Nile, forcing the SAF to pull back into the state’s urban areas further south.1060 In February 2025, the SAF managed to recapture Al-Qutayna, a key city in northern White Nile on the road to Khartoum,1061 while the RSF reportedly carried out reprisal attacks against civilians in villages near Al-Qutayna.1062
