Search within Sudan: Security Situation
Between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2026, ACLED recorded 34 security events in Red Sea state. Of these, 23 were coded as battles, 5 as explosions/remote violence, and 6 as violence against civilians. With 18, the highest number of incidents was recorded in May 2025. With regard to incidents per district,1274 24 of the 34 documented incidents were recorded in Port Sudan, 4 in Jubayt Elma’aadin, 3 in Hala’ib, 1 in Al-Ganab, 1 in Agig, and 1 in Sawakin districts. Of the six incidents coded as ‘violence against civilians’ with three recorded fatalities, three incidents involved the Darfur Joint Forces, one involved Sudanese military forces, one involved unidentified armed groups, and one involved military forces of Egypt.1275
