According to IOM’s Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) Data, as of 30 July 2026, Gedaref state was hosting 167 326 IDPs, over 60 % of them displaced from Khartoum (101 318), followed by 31 854 IDPs displaced there from Al Jazirah. Of the total number of IDPs in Gedaref state, 94 061 IDPs were located in Madinat El-Gedaref district, followed by Galabat Al-Gharbiya-Kassab district with 23 482 IDPs and Al-Rahad with 15 015 IDPs. At the same time, an additional 693 displaced persons from Gedaref state were hosted in other states. As of 28 July 2026, IOM had not recorded any IDP returns in Gedaref state.1230
