Between 1 March 2025 and 31 August 2026, ACLED recorded 134 security events in West Darfur state. Of these, 32 were coded as battles, 56 as explosions/remote violence and 46 as violence against civilians. Incidents peaked in July and January 2026, with 25 and 18 recorded events, respectively, while remaining at or below 11 monthly events throughout the rest of the period. During the reference period, ACLED recorded security incidents in all districts714 of West Darfur. The highest number was documented in El Geneina district (62 incidents), followed by Kulbus district (26 incidents). Of the 46 incidents coded as ‘violence against civilians’ with 118 recorded fatalities, 27 involved the RSF and 16 involved Darfur Communal Militia.715
