2.7.1. Administrative division and population estimates

Hasaka governorate is divided into four administrative districts, namely Al-Hasaka (or Al-Hasakeh), Malikiya, Qamishli and Ras Al-Ain, which are further divided into a total of 16 sub-districts.806 Its capital is the city of Hasaka.807 As of April 2026, IOM estimated the governorate’s population at 1 413 698, including residents, IDPs and returnees from abroad.808
