Tartous governorate is divided into six administrative districts, namely Banyas (Baniyas), Dreikish, Qadmous, Safita, Sheikh Badr and Tartous, which are further divided into a total of 27 sub-districts.703 Its capital is the city of Tartous.704 As of April 2026, the population of Tartous governorate was at 1 261 868 including residents, IDPs, and returnees from abroad, according to IOM estimates.705
