Sweida governorate is divided into three administrative districts, namely As-Sweida, Salkhad, and Shahba, which are further divided into a total of 12 sub-districts.1207 Its capital is the city of Sweida.1208 As of April 2026, IOM estimated the governorate’s population at around 480 000, including residents, IDPs, and returnees from abroad.1209 Sweida governorate has a significant Druze population.1210
