Groups proscribed by Pakistan’s federal government (the MoI) up to October 2024 are, amongst others, LeJ (proscribed in 2001), LeT (2002), SSP (2002), JeM (2002), Al-Qaeda (2003), BLA (2006), TTP (2008), BLF (2010), JuA (2016), HGB (2024), and the BLA’s Majeed Brigade (2024).485
Armed militant groups designed as ‘foreign terrorist organization’ by the US Department of State (USDOS) include the BLA/the Majeed Brigade,486 TTP, LeT, AQ and AQIS, the Haqqani Network, ISKP, ISPP, LeJ, the HuM, HM, JeM,487 and TRF.488 The BLA and its Majeed Brigade489 and TRF are additionally designated by the USDOS as ‘specially designated global terrorists’ (SDGTs),490 along with JuA.491 The UN Security Council’s list of entities subject to its sanctions includes TTP, JuA, LeT, AQ, ISKP, the Haqqani Network, LeJ, JeM, and HuM.492
