According to sources, Syria continued to retain the death penalty.174 Sources noted that no executions were recorded during 2025 in Syria, while one individual remained under death sentence.175 In November 2025, a criminal court in Deir Ez-Zor reportedly issued the first death sentence since the fall of the Assad regime, convicting a man of the rape and murder of a child.176 Further information on the retention or use of the death penalty by the transitional government could not be found among the sources consulted by EUAA within the time constraints of this report.
