Learning outcomes & description
This module introduces participants to the EUAA’s voluntary and anonymous data collection mechanism designed to gather first-hand insights from asylum-related migrants across the EU. The course explains the background and purpose of these surveys to understand asylum-related migration within the EUAA’s mandate for data collection. It also illustrates how such surveys enhance situational awareness, inform policymaking, and support emergency and operational responses in the EU+.
Through four interactive modules, learners explore this initiative, its outputs, methodology, and implementation. They gain practical knowledge on designing, promoting, and conducting surveys while ensuring data protection, ethical standards, and engagement with diverse migrant populations. The training, suitable for EUAA staff and partners involved in asylum and reception activities, equips participants with the competencies needed to collect and manage quality data that contributes to an evidence-based understanding of asylum-related migration trends in Europe.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

At the end of this module, the learner will be able to:
  1. Describe the SAM project, including its components, aims, and connection with the EUAA’s mandate.
  2. Explain the methodology and principles applied to the SAM project, including questionnaire structure and data collection platforms.
  3. Promote and disseminate the SAM project effectively, addressing challenges and identifying appropriate mitigating measures.
