Pact aligned foundation modules

Pact-aligned foundation modules

Pact-aligned foundation modules introduce key concepts and professional skills required for working in asylum and reception systems under the Pact on Migration and Asylum. These modules support asylum and reception officials in understanding the updated legal and operational framework and in applying it in their daily work.

They are designed primarily for newly appointed staff, as well as professionals who support asylum and reception procedures and require a basic understanding of the principles underpinning the Pact framework.

What these modules cover

Through Pact-aligned foundation modules, participants develop knowledge and skills related to:

  • communication with applicants for international protection in intercultural and sensitive contexts

  • ethical and professional standards when working with applicants

  • identification of vulnerability and special needs in line with the Pact framework

Role within the curriculum

These modules provide a starting point for learning within the European Asylum Curriculum and prepare participants to progress to more specialised modules covering asylum procedures, reception conditions, and other areas of the Pact framework.
