Structure and use of the report
The report is divided into two parts. The first part provides an analytical overview on long-standing security challenges and major conflicts, including information on the state armed actors and non-state armed actors involved. The second part of the report provides a breakdown of the security situation by geopolitical zone and state, covering security trends in the period 1 January 2024 – 31 August 2025. This part includes information on major security issues and main actors, main types of violence, recent security trends and state response in maintaining law and order.
