2. Security situation per state and Federal Capital Territory
Nigeria is a federal republic with three levels of government: federal, state, and local.275 It is divided into 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja. The 36 states and the FCT are grouped into six geopolitical regions.276
