The EASO Training Curriculum is specifically designed to provide common vocational training for employees within asylum and reception services in EU Member States. It aims to achieve a harmonised implementation of the Common European Asylum System (CEAS). EASO is constantly striving to make sure that the training it offers is as effective and relevant as possible. As part of this objective, EASO is working towards building a European Sectoral Qualification Framework for Asylum and Reception Officials (ESQF).
Aim of the European Sectoral Qualification Framework for Asylum and Reception Officials
This is a framework by which the extensive mapping of job-tasks for asylum officials and the identification of the knowledge, skill, responsibility and autonomy necessary to perform these job-tasks (occupational standards) allows for the alignment of the required learning (educational standards).
Occupational Standards for Asylum and Reception Officials
It is important that ‘the main job that people do’ in a particular area are specified in occupational standards. These occupational standards describe the professional tasks and activities as well as the job competences typical of an occupation. The occupational standards align with the learning needs of the individual asylum and reception official.
Learning Outcomes based approach which translates into Educational Standards for Asylum and Reception Officials
Learning outcomes are statements of what a learner is expected to know, understand and be able to do at the end of a learning sequence. Learning outcomes, for asylum and reception officials are only relevant if they can be linked to and useful to the performance of job related tasks in the area of asylum and reception. For the sake of ensuring relevant learning outcomes in EASO training, it is of paramount importance to take stock of and align them to occupational standards. A learning outcome for asylum and reception officials is referred to as an educational standard in the ESQF context.
