EUAA Fundamental Rights Officer publishes Annual Report for 2025

The EUAA’ Fundamental Rights Officer has published the its Annual Report for 2025, providing an overview of the Office’s work to ensure compliance with fundamental rights across the Agency’s activities and to promote respect for fundamental rights in its work.

The report highlights the Office’s work throughout 2025 to integrate fundamental rights considerations across the Agency’s operational, technical, and institutional activities. This included mainstreaming and promoting fundamental rights within the EUAA’s operational and technical assistance to Member States, supporting the implementation of the Fundamental Rights Strategy 2024-2028adopted by the Management Board, and overseeing the EUAA Complaints Mechanism to help ensure accountability in cases of potential violations.

This is the second annual report published by the Fundamental Rights Officer, reflecting the Office’s continued role in providing independent advice and monitoring to help ensure that the Agency’s activities are carried out in full respect of fundamental rights obligations. In 2025, this included contributing to the integration of fundamental rights considerations into the revised methodology for the EUAA Monitoring Mechanism and monitoring exercises, as well as supporting the development of EUAA practical guides on topics such as age assessment, screening, reception standards and indicators, the solidarity mechanism, and the accelerated examination procedure.

As the Pact on Migration and Asylum enters into application, the Fundamental Rights Officer will continue to support the Agency in ensuring that fundamental rights remain at the core of its operational support to Member States and the protection of persons seeking international protection.
